Sunbury Electrification has started
Works have started on the $270 million project to electrify the Sydenham rail line from Watergardens to Sunbury following a ‘sod-turning’ ceremony at Diggers Rest station on 26 June.
O’Donnell Griffin and Laing O’Rourke Electrification Joint Venture is delivering the project in alliance with the Department of Transport and rail operators Metro Trains and V/Line.

Rail services to return to Clunes
Some $7 million has been committed to restoring passenger rail services to the central Victorian town of Clunes.
The project is part of the Victorian Government's $631 million dollar Ready for Tomorrow plan, which aims to improve connections to regional and rural Victoria.
Once services are returned to Clunes, residents in the region will be able to benefit from improved links to both Melbourne and Ballarat.

M80 contract awarded
BMD Constructions has won a $31.8 million contract for the St Albans section of the M80 Ring Road upgrade.
The M80 Ring Road upgrade, worth a total of $2.25 billion, aims to improve operations along the Western and Metropolitan Ring Roads between Laverton North and Greensborough.

New timetable delivers new services
A new timetable has delivered 211 new weekly services across Melbourne.
The timetable came into effect on Sunday 6 June. It provides more services on the Frankston, Cranbourne, Pakenham and Hurstbridge lines.
The changes also accommodate the new Coolaroo station opened on the Craigieburn line.

Coolaroo new station opens
Coolaroo’s new station is open. The $36 million station is on the Craigieburn line between Roxburgh Park and Broadmeadows station.
Passengers used Coolaroo station for the first time on Sunday June 6 and the community celebrated at an opening day event.
The station improves public transport services for around 25,000 people living in Coolaroo, Dallas and Meadow Heights, in Melbourne’s north.

Duplication of Sunbury link complete
The $25 million duplication of Sunbury’s main road link to the Calder Freeway is now complete.
The Vineyard Road upgrade included doubling the lanes from two to four, improving intersections and building share paths.
The additional lanes will relieve congestion for around 20,000 commuters travelling to and from Sunbury.

Call for tenders for new stations
Tenders have been called for the construction of new stations at Lynbrook and at Cardinia Road, near Pakenham.
The advertised tender is part of The Victorian Transport Plan’s New Stations in Growth Areas project.
Lynbrook and Cardinia Road stations will provide new public transport services to two of Melbourne's growing suburbs.

Surveillance upgrade complete
An $8.6 million upgrade to a surveillance system for Melbourne’s suburban rail network is complete.
The CCTV system improvement is part of the Victorian Government's initiative to create a safer transport network.
The CCTV upgrade means 3000 cameras are now operating across the rail network, providing greater recorded coverage of stations, platforms, car parks and transport interchanges.
The enhanced surveillance system, which records footage and provides high quality digital images, has replaced the old Video Based Recording (VCR) system.
Safety on the network will continue to improve with the roll out of more staffed stations this year and the addition of 250 dedicated transit officers from Victoria Police operating by June.

Traralgon to Sale works start
Works have started on the Princes Highway duplication between Traralgon and Sale.
The project covers a 1.5 kilometre stretch of highway between Traralgon-Maffra Road and Stammers Road in Traralgon East.
The road will be rebuilt with two lanes in each direction, divided by a central median strip. The project also includes safety improvements at four intersections.

Malvern tram depot turns 100
An original tram has retraced its route for Malvern Tram Depot’s official 100th anniversary celebration.
The centenary marks an important milestone in Melbourne’s public transport history.
Malvern depot, listed by the National Trust, remains a significant transport hub in Melbourne, used today by 83 trams on five routes.

An information centre has opened for the Peninsula Link project.
The Info Hub allows the public to learn about the Peninsula Link project and receive updates about the project's progress. People can speak to members of the project team and see maps and footage of the project.
