myki to save passengers money
People using myki money will only ever pay for what they use when they touch on and off. This will save them money in unused fares.
There are times when people pay more than they need to because their travel plans change during the day. For example, if they buy a daily Metcard but then get a lift home after work.

Laverton rail footbridge takes shape
The main parts of the new Laverton Station footbridge have been lifted into place. This new accessible bridge is a key feature of the $92.6 million Laverton Rail Upgrade project.
Other work that is underway includes the construction of a new platform on the northern side of Laverton station, a new rail bridge over Merton Street, about 300 new car parking spaces and works to the M1 Princes Freeway abutment.
Bulk earthworks for an additional kilometre of track between Laverton Station and the Altona loop junction have started. This new track will remove a major bottleneck on the metropolitan network and allow services to start and end at Laverton Station.
The new footbridge is due to be completed in 2011. Once opened, it will provide commuters with an attractive and modern structure that is fully compliant with disability guidelines including lift access to the station platforms.
